Treen – Morrison

Some things are worth waiting for. Allison “Alli” Elizabeth Treen and Millard Bland Morrison Jr. met each other in high school, but it wasn’t until six years later, after seeing each other over the holiday season in 2012, that Millard called to ask Alli to go to the movies.

Fast forward three years to when Millard asked Alli, his now girlfriend, to share with him the IberiaBank Christmas Party Raffle prize he said he had won, which was dinner on Friday, December 18, at Commander’s Palace. There was no such prize, but after a wonderful dinner in the Garden Room, Millard asked Alli to marry him. Millard had popped the question at the same time, on the same night, that his parents had gotten engaged 30 years earlier. Millard also presented Alli with his great-grandmother’s engagement ring from the 1930s. After champagne and dessert, the newly engaged couple celebrated with their immediate families who were waiting in the bar downstairs. The party continued when Alli opened the door to Millard’s parents’ house, to find their best friends waiting to celebrate.

The wedding weekend began with a wonderful rehearsal dinner at Arnaud’s, where Millard’s younger sister, Bailey, works.
The next day, Saturday, October 8, 2016, Millard and Alli were married at the Fountain of Hygeia in Audubon Zoo. The couple and their guests then celebrated at the reception, the first to be held completely outdoors in the field with its canopy of old oaks.

Alli honored her late grandfather, Governor Dave Treen, with framed pictures of him at every bar and a description of the old fashioned cocktails he used to craft. Guests also enjoyed a dinner catered by Audubon Institute Catering that included a raw oyster bar and shucker.

The couple’s celebration included many personal touches. Alli’s mother made a beautiful handkerchief with pieces from her own wedding dress and Alli’s grandmothers’ wedding dresses, which Alli attached to her bouquet.

Millard wore a watch he had been awarded at his family’s camp and suspenders that had belonged to his late grandfather, Gray Morrison.

The couple’s recessional song was as a string version of “Our Song,” which Alli had given to Millard on a CD back in high school. Later on, Alli and Millard’s fathers joined the band, which got the crowd rocking!

The happy couple honeymooned in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for five nights and Puerto Vallarta for three nights. They now live in their new home in Mid-City. Millard is a Relationship Manager at IberiaBank and Alli is a Graphic Designer at Line 58 Branding & Web Design.
