Whatever you have planned for this weekend, change your plans. Unless of course you were already headed out to Armstrong Park for the combined forces of Treme Creole Gumbo Fest and Congo Square Rhythms Festival. These two great events have come together in what is an absolutely insane two days of food and music. There will be two full food courts and two separate art markets as well as two absolutely jam packed stages. Usually, I just post recommendations for things like this but the schedule is too great not to post in its entirety (I’ll put stars next to the especially good stuff). Don’t miss Cole William and the Soul Rebels on Saturday and on Sunday the Pinettes and the Mardi Gras Indian Battle can’t be beat.
