There is no shortage of inspiration sprinkled throughout the internet and we are loving some of the recent trends popping up on TikTok and Instagram Reels.
Yo Soy Pablo
We first saw this trend with a photographer quite adorably positioning a couple and their family, specifically their grandmothers, at the start of the video. The trend uses a song with the sound of Pablo Escobar saying his name as the video is focused on the couple. As the song hits the instrumental the video pans out to the couple surrounded by their family (or friends, bridal party or all of the above) with their most “Mafia”/Marlon Brando-looking expressions. Whether or not you like the song choice, it’s a fun moment for all involved and can make for a good keepsake. (Kelly here: I know my grandma would’ve found the whole moment hilarious using signature side-eye for an uncommon photo opportunity.) Couples from all over the world have made this trend their own. Some are seated or standing around the couple, some include classic cars, others use props like cigars or sunglasses. The options are endless and put it in black and white and it’s reminiscent of a wedding from “Goodfellas” or “The Godfather” (minus all the not-so-nice parts). We tried to use the original creator’s sound on TikTok, however, we were met with a notice that it wasn’t available in the country yet; however, there are, of course, other options scattered throughout the two apps. Below is a look at a video that compiles a few of the best (in our opinion).
Dress Redo
There’s an age-old saying for bridesmaids dresses in particular, “if you cut it shorter, you can wear it again.” But, does anyone ever really do that? Some may, but many do not (unless you’re in New Orleans during Carnival season and need a long formal dress). We recently found a bride that took her own wedding dress and repurposed as an entirely new outfit for a formal wedding. The bride’s dress was already minimal and silk with a drop waist, thin straps and a simple neckline. The bride (@gemma.sortchilvers on Instagram) told Vogue Weddings that she loved the dress because she knew she could rewear it, telling them, “I thought, ‘This would be so cool in another color.’ I already had it in mind that this wasn’t going to be a one-off dress.” It’s not every bride that wants to change her perfect gown, but for someone thinking ahead and not expecting to save their gown or preserve it in any way, looking to beyond the Big Day to a time you could wear it again – this bride did everything right. She decided to dye her dress a nice baby pink and cut off the train. It’s floor length and perfect for a formal spring or summer wedding. Click here to see the transformation.
Sentimental Seating Chart
We’ve seen creative seating charts of all kinds – donuts, photos, shots, cocktails, you name it. But a bride took sentimental – and adorable – to a whole new level when it came to her seating chart. Courtney Broska Photography (@courtneybroskaphotography on Instagram) posted a reel sharing that the bride she worked with was a sixth grade Special Education teacher. Broska shared that the bride wanted all of her guests to have something special from their wedding, so she got her class to write the name cards. Each name card had its own decoration and style, handwritten from her students. One thing we love most about a wedding most is when the couple adds something personal and sentimental about themselves. A seating chart doesn’t have to be “Pinterest-worthy” to be the best. It can be something as thoughtful as handwritten cards from students. There is nothing better than a little something personal to show people you care. And if you let your guests take them home, you check off wedding favors all in the same moment.
