As we enter into this Fourth of July weekend, it’s always good to reflect on using a traditional holiday theme as the backdrop for a wedding. We’ve discussed before how having a holiday theme could potentially blow up a big cliché bomb all over your Big Day. But, there are always tasteful and smart ways to incorporate your favorite holidays into your nuptials.

Lets take July 4th as an example. The colors navy blue and red actually pair very well in a classic way. This dark hue paired with the pop of color is a fool-proof combination.

Include a navy blue lace table runner down a table with a white cloth and top with red roses in clear glasses. Incorporate the hues into the groom’s suit, the bridesmaid’s dresses or the bride’s “something blue.” Ask your makeup artist to include a red pop of color to your lips to complete your wedding day look and include red poppies into your bridal bouquet.

The best thing about this America-themed idea is the ability to tie in the food to the theme. Fried chicken, corn on the cob, potato salad and anything you can put on the grill to complete that backyard barbeque sense with a tasty twist. Wanting to include late-night bites? Pair mini sliders with glass bottles of coke for your guests to finish off the night. Bring it all together with your cake and top with fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries against white icing, fondant or a naked cake.
