Attending a Zephyrs Game
Our Zephyrs have more themed games than you can shake a bat at, but my favorite is always a Friday night game because of the fireworks – there can never be enough fireworks.
There are 41 regular season games left from June through the start of September, and each offers varied amusements. For instance, if you attend the Sat., June 23, game against the Memphis Redbirds, you can: bring a Zatarain’s product or proof of purchase to the field box office to receive a two-for-one ticket deal; play bingo “along with the action of the field” for a chance to win prizes from Treasure Chest Casino; and listen to a concert from country music band 90 Degrees West.
Truth be told, I’m not a big baseball fan; I am, however, a great fan of people-watching (which is fantastic at the games) and ballpark staples such as hot dogs and chicken tenders (though I’m going to branch out on my next visit and try the pig nachos and the new Mexican food stand).
Parking is ample and pretty cheap if one is used to French Quarter prices, and entry ranges from $8 for in-advance upper-level tickets (for those ages 13 to 59) to $12 day-of lower–level tickets; seniors, military members and children under 12 have reduced prices.
Visit milb.com and search for the Zephyrs for our team’s official site and other information.

The Royale Treatment
Guerlain Spa, The Roosevelt, 123 Baronne St., 335-3190
Through an inconspicuous entrance on Baronne Street just off Canal Street lies an oasis of relaxation and revitalization. It is one of only three Guerlain Spas in the United States and is part of the Roosevelt Hotel. The only stress clients might feel is trying to choose from the extensive range of services. Recommended is the Abeille Royale Facial, which uses a pure royal concentrate consisting of pure honey and royal jelly made by bees. Studies have found that the skin becomes 63 percent more efficient at healing within 16 hours of using the Abeille Royale serum. A microdermabrasion and massage help repair wrinkles and restore firmness. A feeling of walking on air afterward is predicted but not guaranteed.
