NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Divers at Audubon Aquarium are really getting into the swim of the spooky season this year. They are up to their gills creating special Halloween treats for the fish in their care.
These highly trained divers are already great in taking care of the Aquarium and are now showing off their creative skills by carving pumpkins for the animals living in the Aquarium’s Great Maya Reef exhibit. After clearing out the insides of the pumpkins and sketching on the designs, the divers take their pumpkins into the exhibit and get to work.
Pumpkin carving will be Oct. 27, Oct. 28 and Oct 31. Pumpkins will remain in the 132,000-gallon exhibit for the fish to investigate. Items like these carved pumpkins provide enrichment for the animals in the exhibit by giving them new ways to explore and find their food.
