NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The Helis Foundation, Arts New Orleans and Ogden Museum of Southern Art will celebrate the mural dedication of Drum Major of NOLA by local artist Keith Duncan, the latest installment of New Orleans’ signature large-scale outdoor mural collection Unframed presented by The Helis Foundation, a project of Arts New Orleans. This showstopping mural, which can be viewed on the exterior wall at Ogden Museum at the intersection of St Charles Avenue and St Joseph Street, honors the long-revered tradition of marching bands in New Orleans and throughout the south.

Unframed presented by The Helis Foundation, a project of Arts New Orleans is the first multi-mural exhibition of large-scale artwork in Downtown New Orleans. Launched in summer 2019 with the unveiling of five murals throughout the Arts District, the exhibition now includes 10 murals commissioned by local and international artists.
Drum Major of NOLA celebrates the grand culture of marching band pageantry and performance at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Dressed in an invented uniform decorated with the fleur-de-lis, the monumental acrobatic drum major additionally symbolizes the vibrant spirit and rich musical traditions synonymous with the city of New Orleans.
With a special appearance by the St. Augustine Marching 100, attendees are encouraged to high step their way to Ogden Museum for free admission, sweet treats, giveaways and more to celebrate this latest masterpiece by legendary artist Keith Duncan!
