Unique New Orleans Jazz Experience Planned May 22 with Dr. Michael White

NEW ORLEANS (press release) –  Jazz aficionadas won’t want to miss a special musical program offered on Sunday, May 22, at the historic Beauregard-Keyes House & Gardens, 1113 Chartres St.

More than just the spectacular sounds for which Dr. Michael White is known, attendees will be exposed to authentic traditional New Orleans style jazz from several perspectives:  history, major figures, stylistic characteristics, repertoire, function, meaning and social significance. This distinctive program will be complimented with live music examples from his band, the Dr. Michael White Quartet, which has performed for audiences world-wide.

The presentation will take place from 6-8 pm; doors open at 5:30. Tickets are $30 for museum members and $40 for non-members and may be pre-purchased online at www.bkhouse.org.

Although some refreshments and treats will be offered, this is a bring your own beverage event. Attendees are encouraged to supply extra cups and bottle openers along with their beverages of choice.

Affectionately known to neighbors and supporters as “BK House”, the historic property at 1113 Chartres Street, has been inhabited by a variety of individuals and families since 1826. Programming has evolved far beyond guided tours and features lectures and demonstrations, crafting and art classes, concerts, cultural displays, and seasonal events, including an ArKIDtecture Summer Camp for children in July and the annual Soiree fundraiser on October 9.
