Melanie Morel-Ensminger is the reverend at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of New Orleans. Although not many people immediately associate the Unitarian Church with New Orleans, the Unitarians have had a presence in the Crescent City since 1833. Social justice issues are the focal point of this faith and Reverend Melanie describes some of the church's activities, including a series of Unitarian fundraising concerts and lectures this summer. This series, called Fridays at First, begins on Friday, June 8 at 7 p.m. at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of New Orleans, 5112 South Claiborne Ave. at the corner of Jefferson Avenue. Listen as Reverend Morel-Ensminger gives us an insight into some of the tenets of this very inclusive faith.
