NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The 22nd Annual Got Gumbo? Cook-off at Royal Sonesta New Orleans featuring mouth-watering gumbos and desserts from popular New Orleans restaurants and hotel chefs. All event proceeds benefit United Way of Southeast Louisiana’s (UWSELA) gumbo of services for area residents.
Tickets are $55 at the door or available online in advance at UnitedWaySELA.org for only $45.
Competitors will vie for the celebrity judges’ picks in best traditional, exotic and seafood gumbos while creating stunning booth displays to wow attendees. Ticket holders can vote for the people’s choice awards of best gumbo, dessert and booth design.
Presenting sponsors include Chalmette Refining, LOOP LLC, Zachry, and the Royal Sonesta New Orleans.
While the competition is in good fun, the cause is serious. UWSELA’s programs and grants support the 49% of the population living in or near poverty in our seven-parish service area, including Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington parishes.
UWSELA dedicates all proceeds from its annual cook-off to improving the health, education and financial stability of every person in the region.
