Urban South Brewery’s Annual Oktoberfest Celebration Returns October 1

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Urban South Brewery will celebrate Oktoberfest at its Tchoupitoulas Street taproom on Saturday, October 1 at 11:00 a.m. CST. Enjoy music from Wurst Case Scenario and a live DJ, and activities including a stein hoisting competition and pretzel eating contest. German-inspired food will be available from a variety of vendors including Urban Smash, Southerns, Crave Cookie Company, Big-O Pops and more. Guests can also shop with local vendors from the Bayou Yacht Club or watch the LSU vs. Auburn game on one of Urban South’s flat-screen TVs.

Urban South will release five German-style beers in honor of its annual Oktoberfest celebration, including its flagship Oktoberfest Marzen lager. Brewed for the fall season, Oktoberfest is Urban South’s fall seasonal offering and will be available on draft and in cans throughout the Urban South distribution footprint. In addition to Oktoberfest, the brewery will also debut the following specialty taproom releases at the event:

  • Helles – Pale German Lager – A classic German Helles lager with Barke Vienna and Pilsner malts, finished with Saaz hops giving delicate floral and soft spicy notes.
  • Hefe – German-Style Wheat – Pale and flaked wheat create a fluffy texture, while German Hefe yeast provides notes of banana, pear and sweet clove in this traditional Hefeweizen.
  • Dunkel – Dark German Lager – A blend of Floor Malted Pilsner and Bohemian Dark malts combine for notes of bakers chocolate, medium roast coffee and english toffee.
  • Hausbier – Festbier – A blend of Pilsner and Vienna malts combine with a healthy amount of Mittelfrueh hops for notes of fresh cut herbs like sage and lavender.
