NEW ORLEANS (press release) – U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services U.S. will welcome 50 new U.S. citizens during a special Independence Day naturalization ceremony Friday at The National WWII Museum. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services New Orleans Field Office Director Eureka Arties will administer the Oath of Allegiance. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo will provide congratulatory remarks to the new Americans.
The 50 citizenship candidates originate from the following 27 countries: Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Ghana, Haiti, Honduras, India, Iraq, Jordan, Laos, Mexico, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Philippines, Russia, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, United Kingdom, Venezuela, Vietnam and Yemen.
This ceremony is part of USCIS’ annual Independence Day celebration of our nation’s 247th birthday and the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. USCIS will welcome more than 5,500 new U.S. citizens in more than 180 Independence Day-themed naturalization ceremonies between June 30 and July 7 across the country.
Ceremonies at American landmarks celebrate the conclusion of an immigrant’s journey to citizenship and honor the commitment they’ve shown along the way. Special venues not only make these events meaningful for those who have voluntarily chosen to participate in American democracy and dedicated themselves to the country’s future, but they also reflect the strength and spirit of the United States.
