NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Join King Brasserie at Kimpton Hotel Fontenot for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner inspired by the Côte d’Azur. The four-course tasting menu curated by Executive Chef Samuel Peery will only be available from 5 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, for $75 a person. A la carte menu items will also be available.
Guests enjoying the tasting menu will have two options for each course. Chef Peery will kick off the meal with the choice of Yellowfin Tuna Tartare ‘Niçoise’ which comes with bitter greens and red bliss potato or the Crawfish Beignets with Cajun caviar, crab fat aioli, and cayenne. The second course moves on to the savory Shrimp Orleans with crispy panisse and gulf bbq sauce, or the Steak Tartare with cured egg yolk, beech mushroom, horseradish, and lavosh. Next is the Seared Sea Scallops with carnival cauliflower, golden raisin, and almond brown butter, or the Braised Short Rib with celery root, baby carrot, escargot, and Burgundy Truffle.
Finishing on a high note, guests can choose between the Champagne Mousse with Ponchatoula strawberry, lemon, macaron, and pistachio, or a Caramel Torte with black cocoa, chocolate custard, and crème fraîche sorbet.
In addition to King’s Valentine’s Day menu, the Peacock Room will feature a specialty Valentine’s Toweravailable only on Wednesday, Feb. 14. The tower will include three delicious layers beginning with Thomasville Tomme, marinated olives, prosciutto, and gougeres with truffle gruyere mousse on the bottom; a middle layer of smoked fish tartlets with salmon roe, caviar and crème fraîche, and brioche madeleines; and topped with fried gulf oysters, and salt and pepper shrimp.
