As technology evolves, each year we are met with a new smartphone or other device that syncs our electronics with the refrigerator or even the car in an effort to make life easier and more connected. You can hate it or you can use it to your advantage — especially in the wedding world.

Ashley Brodie, wedding sales manager at Brennan's Restaurant in the French Quarter, recently shared her latest tech-savvy idea for couples coming to the Big Easy to say "I Do."

Brodie says more couples are asking her to give them a FaceTime tour of the property. It's such a simple concept, but the idea can bring couples a better understanding of the look of their New Orleans wedding.

"It is a lot of fun," says Brodie. "And has — surprisingly — resulted in a closer connection with the bride than by just giving them a tour."

Introducing this concept helps create trust and ease between a venue and out of town couples, while also ensuring that the latter gets exactly what they expect and pay for.

It’s also something couples should think about when looking around at the different venues. Is the venue willing to FaceTime or Skype with you? If not, that may be a red flag.

Have you FaceTimed with your venue? What other technology do you take advantage of? Let us know in the comments.
