Wallet-Friendly Weddings

To the locals, New Orleans is the greatest city in the world. From food to fun, you can’t go wrong in the Crescent City. Lately, it seems that this sentiment is being carried over to weddings that use the Big Easy as a backdrop.

Earlier this year, personal finance website WalletHub released its picks for the “Best Places To Get Married.” Weddings are beautiful, but when it comes down to it, it is all about the numbers. Statistical mavens at WalletHub based the findings of their “Best Places To Get Married” report on three mathematical factors of a particular city: costs, facilities and services, and activities and attractions. Out of the 150 biggest cities in the country, New Orleans landed spot number 12, landing higher than Austin, Texas, New York City and Washington D.C.

In the three subsections, New Orleans landed No. 58 in overall cost (which includes hotel stays, restaurant and meal costs and the average cost for a wedding); 27 in facilities and services (which looks at the amount of specific vendors per capita); and 10 in activities and attractions (number of attractions, foodie-friendliness, and more).

With New Orleans seeing growth in the travel industry and the expansion of the airport, as well as other national rankings like coming in second for Travel + Leisure magazine’s “20 Most Charming Cities in America,” we are sure to top the list next year.
