Warren Easton Charter School to Hold 110th Kickoff Celebration in Celebration of 110 Years

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Warren Easton Charter High School will hold a Kickoff Celebration to begin its yearlong celebration of the program’s 110th year. Students, staff, alumni and friends of Easton will join the famous Warren Easton Fighting Eagles Marching Band, Units, Choir and special guest speakers to celebrate the oldest public high school in Louisiana.

Superintendent of Orleans Parish Schools, Dr. Avis Williams; Council Person Lesli Harris; Easton Foundation Board President Lawrence Jones; Principal/CEO Mervin Jackson, and students and staff will speak to Warren Easton’s past, present and future.

WHY:             September 24, 2023 marks the 110th Anniversary of Warren Easton.  The current location at 2029 Canal St. was built in 1913, and named for Warren Easton, a lifelong servant of public education and the state’s first education superintendent.

Warren Easton is an “A” rated, open enrollment high school with a consistent 100% graduation rate. Designated a U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon School, Warren Easton offers a rigorous and relevant curriculum with numerous gifted, honors and AP courses, as well as a model career technical educational program.

Easton recently expanded with its Ninth Grade Academy located directly across the street from Warren Easton Charter High School’s original 109-year-old building, which will now house grades 10-12.
