Wedded to Makeovers

Sephora is a makeup mecca. The nation-wide beauty retailer has just about anything you could imagine from lipstick and eye shadow to fragrances and skincare products. We can relate to the many women that walk in for one item and walk out with an armload of foundation, powder and blush. Sephora also offers personal consultations and makeup applications.

New Orleans Bride and "LTEC" editor Melanie Warner Spencer and I recently went in to experience what the store offers its bridal clients. The staff explained the whole process and really listened to our respective personal makeup styles and what we were looking for in a look.

Melanie, who wears very little makeup each day, was looking for something a little bolder that she could imitate for her monthly WWL-TV segments. I was looking for something lighter, but still trendy with a cat eye and contour.

We both fell in love with several of the products demonstrated on us and ended up purchasing a few, though that is not necessary.

Brianne Jones, with Sephora Lakeside, mentioned that most of their bridal clientele comes from out of town brides who are opting to elope, or have a small wedding, and want a quick application. Additionally, brides coming in to find the right look for their rehearsal dinner, engagement party, bridal showers or even bachelorette parties – which could turn in to a great bachelorette activity for the bride and all of her friends.

Sephora offers brides a 45-minute consultation, customized skincare mini facial and makeup application. They even can suggest matching fragrance options and offer hair touchups at the end of the session.

It’s quick, fun and offers brides, maids and the like an easy makeup option on the day of an event.
