Wedded to Wellness: Hobbitt House

To ensure couples find the ideal honeymoon spot, tailor-made for their personalities, Let Them Eat Cake is extending our "Wedded to Wellness" series into 2017. For the Summer/Fall 2016 issue of New Orleans Bride, travel contributor Becca Hensley takes couples on a journey throughout the world. These honeymoon locales are meant to melt the stress of a wedding away and allow couples to start their newlywed journey with no baggage. We've highlighted Hensley's picks in "Arte De Vivre," "Say Namaste," "Soak Yourself," "Wine Time" and now we bring you to the hillsides of Austria in "Hobbitt House." Note: when visiting the hotel's website, make sure to click "En" at the top right to switch the wording over to English. Unless, of course, you speak Deutsch, then proceed.

Hobbitt House

Rogner Bad Blumau, Austria
It’s like a fairytale. Designed by Austrian painter and architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser, to house a bevy of mineral springs and their proved healing waters, Rogner Bad Blumau unfurls like a Dr. Seuss sketched castle. Atop a hill, the curvy-lined complex, topped with onion domes, glittering with gold highlights, marked by fantastical columns and block painted in hues from the earth, the hotel and spa bedazzles aesthetically, even as it promotes healing and relaxation. Eleven indoor and outdoor pools, tons of jacuzzis, plentiful decks, myriad saunas, a spa and abundant bridges form the sauna empire and bathhouse’s heartbeat. But be enchanted, too, by Hundertwasser design savvy rooms, local wine and farm-to-fork meals, not to mention hiking, yoga, biking and hot air balloon rides.
Room a Deux: The Steinhaus Komfort, which has a balcony.
Prescription: Soak. Soak. Sauna. Soak again. It’s all about the water, known to ameliorate ailments from eczema to arthritis. blumau.com
