Wedding 911

New Orleans knows disaster. Which means the people of New Orleans are experts in lending a hand where people need it. Though the loss of a piece of clothing may not seem like a huge tragedy, the loss of a wedding dress can be devastating both financially and emotionally to a bride and her family. When Linda Lee Bridal & Boutique closed its doors suddenly on Sept. 20, it impacted many local brides, bridesmaids, mothers and family members.New Orleanians rallied to extend a hand when over the weekend, event planners Three Little Words joined forces with Feet First to bring a solution to those who had no where else to turn.

Those willing to donate gowns were instructed to bring any dresses (wedding dress, mother of the bride dress, bridesmaid dress, or flower girl dress) to Feet First’s Magazine Street location. The next day, organizers invited brides and their bridal parties to bring their proof of purchase from Linda Lee and find their new gowns.

“When the first bride of the day walked in, we asked her if she was looking for a dress and she immediately burst into tears,” the spokesperson for Three Little Words told us via email. “That's when it really hit home for us how stressful this must be. Your wedding is only a couple months away and the dress that you've paid for essentially vanishes.”

The company told us how truly gratifying and humbling it was to be able to help brides go from tears of frustration and sadness to tears of joy in her new wedding dress.

Wedding Belles Boutique also donated some of the company’s sample gowns and seamstress Debbie Ales donated her time and skills to ensure every bride left happy.

This week, Bliss Bridal NOLA will be holding an emergency sample sale Tuesday Sept. 27 through Oct 1. Not only are they reducing prices on their entire sample sale dress inventory to $500 or less, but they are also bringing all of their sample sale gowns from the Bliss Bridal Fairhope location to provide more options for brides.

“It's an amazing thing,” says Three Little Words’ spokesperson. “Being able to share the happiness that your wedding gown brought you with someone else and turn a negative into a positive."
