With the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle rapidly approaching (on May 19, to be exact) it seems as if the nuptials, and wedding-related items in general, are all anyone can talk about. It’s no surprise that in the city that uses any excuse to throw a party, royal wedding themed events are popping up.
The Windsor Court Hotel just announced that guests can watch the couple say “I Do” in style during their Royal Wedding Watch Party in the Polo Club lounge. There will be a British-inspired breakfast accompanied by bottomless mimosas (count us in!), tea service and sweet treats inspired by Harry and Meghan’s lemon elderflower wedding cake. This service will be from 5 to 10 a.m.
Additionally, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., the hotel will offer a Royal Tea in the Le Salon. The salon’s already elegant afternoon tea will be given a royal spin, where guests can celebrate the royal wedding and even bring their families. The room will be decorated specially for the event and will include life-sized, cardboard cutouts of the couple and Queen Elizabeth. Also inspired by the couple’s wedding cake, the tea will serve lemon elderflower cake and corgi-shaped (the Queen’s favorite dog breed) cookies.
Both options require reservations, which can be made by calling 504-596-1994 for the watch party and 504-596-4773 for the royal tea.
In other news, Sirius XM announced it is launching a Wedding Party channel. “A channel that includes songs sweeter than the frosting on your wedding cake and more exciting than the moment leading up to a couple’s kiss at the altar,” reads a press release about the launch. Listeners will be able to catch hits like Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” and Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” to classics like Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September” or Kool & The Gang’s “Celebration.” In addition to the SiriusXM channel (channel 4), you can listen to the channel on the Sirius XM mobile app, smart TVs, Amazon Alexa devices, AppleTV, PlayStation, Roku and more.
