Wedding Trends We Love, Part Two

After pointing out a spike in creativity among those saying, “I do,” we recently shared a few new (or on the rise in popularity) wedding trends we’re loving right now. See part one here.

This time, a few of our favorites pertain primarily with wedding guests.

Guest-Driven Art Piece

We recently stumbled upon a TikTok in which the couple set up an easel with a canvas and some paint right at the entrance of their reception, with a note to their guests to add a brushstroke or element to the canvas. At the end of the reception the couple went home with a piece of artwork for their home made entirely from their loved ones.

We absolutely love a live painter at a wedding and coordinating with the painter for colors and style to match the painting they create can make for a gorgeously cohesive art collection.

A few live painters from around the city include Torregrossa Fine Art, NOLA Live Painting, Alex Harvie, Pappion Artistry and Denise Hopkins Fine Art, among others.

Professional Photos/Drawings for Guests

Looking for an alternative to the typical wedding favors can be exhausting. But there’s a recent trend we’ve seen popping up that we love. Some brides and grooms are opting for either a professional type of photoshoot for their guests, or images drawn or painted in the likeness of their guests. In the same spirit, instead of a typical photo booth, a photographer is set up like a photoshoot and each guest gets their turn to be a model for a minute. In addition, and a trend we also saw on TikTok, a couple had a live painter painting watercolor images in the likeness of the wedding guests.

With a photoshoot setup, we would suggest either working with your photographer to ensure they have enough cameras set-ups for your event, or seeking out another photographer to aid in the evening. Many of the aforementioned live painters might also be able to help with additional painting or alternative artists.

Polaroid Pictures

There’s nothing that compares to a professional wedding photographer. They know the shots to get, the angles to move in and the perfect edits to make sure a couple has everything they could want to remember their wedding. But (and as a millennial myself) there is sometimes an affinity for what makes us nostalgic. In this case. (and as Gen Z brings the past back in style) the love of a polaroid picture, or one straight off of the disposable digital camera you used to pack into your purse before a party. There are now apps people can download on their phone that recreate the vibe of a picture from a polaroid or digital camera. Or opt for a replica of either like this one directly from Polaroid or this from Target. For apps, find the one that works best for you, but some we like are Lense and POV App.
