Wedding Websites Rethink Promotion of Plantation Wedding Venues

Louisiana is among many states home to former slave plantations operating as wedding and event venues. In December of last year, civil rights advocacy group Color of Change sent a letter to major websites and magazines used for wedding planning urging them to revise policies on content related to former slave plantations. New Orleans Bride Magazine editor Melanie Warner Spencer recently discussed the issue in the monthly wedding segment on the WWLTV/WUPL “Morning Show.”
