Wediquette Wednesday: Are we supposed to include my fiance’s parents on the wedding invitation if they aren’t contributing?

Question: My parents are financing our wedding and reception. Are we supposed to include my fiancé’s parents on wedding the invitation if they aren’t contributing?

Answer: Traditionally, if the bride’s parents are funding the wedding and reception the groom’s parents are not included on the invitation. That said, many couple’s will include the groom’s parents as cohosts, to illustrate the merging of two families. In this case the invitation might read:

Jenny Smith and Jared Williams…

Otherwise, feel free to omit the groom’s parents without worrying about a breach of etiquette.
