Each Wednesday, we tackle wedding etiquette. At times, it’s a reader question or one from a colleague, friend or family member and other times we’ll cover a popular issue. (Note: Questions may be edited for clarity and brevity.)

Question: My mother and I were discussing invitation wording the other day and I mentioned including a link to the wedding website on it. My mom had a fit! She says you aren’t supposed to put anything on the invitation that has to do with the registry. Obviously our registry information is on the site, but we wouldn’t dare mention anything about gifts or the registry on the invitation. But, can we put our wedding website on the save the date and invitations?

Answer: You and your mom are correct regarding the rule about leaving registry or any gift information off of the invitations. However, it is A-OK to include a link to your wedding website. There is generally a lot of information that’s helpful for guests, as well frequently as my favorite part, the story of how the couple met. Link away!
