Each Wednesday, we tackle wedding etiquette. At times, it’s a reader question or one from a colleague, friend or family member and other times we’ll cover a popular issue.
Question: My niece is getting married next month and I plan to write a check as a gift to she and her husband-to-be. Do I address it to her, him or both?
Answer: Traditionally, you would make the check out to the bride. However, if they live together, address it to the couple. As a side note to other readers, when you know the groom better than the bride, it’s OK to address the check to him.
