Wediquette Wednesday: Do we have to include a return address and stamp on the R.S.V.P. card?

Each Wednesday, we tackle wedding etiquette. At times, it’s a reader question or one from a colleague, friend or family member and other times we’ll cover a popular issue. (Note: Questions may be edited for clarity and brevity.)

Question: It’s time to send out our wedding invitations and we are of course including an R.S.V.P. card. Do we have to include a return address and stamp on the R.S.V.P. card?

Answer: While you aren’t obligated to include the return address and stamp, it’s a good idea for a couple of reasons. First, it makes it much easier for your guests to send you the R.S.V.P. Second, this increases the likelihood that you will get a higher percentage of R.S.V.P.s back from your invitees.
