Each Wednesday, we tackle wedding etiquette. At times, it’s a reader question or one from a colleague, friend or family member and other times we’ll cover a popular issue. (Note: Questions may be edited for clarity and brevity.

Question: My fiancé and I have continued to plan our wedding during the crisis, since so far, all of our vendors have been able to do everything virtually. We know that bridal boutiques and other businesses are reopening this weekend, but we are uncomfortable with the idea of going into a business or to more populated areas at this stage and would rather continue with virtual appointments. Do we have to meet with wedding vendors in person if we are uncomfortable with the loosened COVID-19 restrictions?

Answer: The very short answer here is no. You don’t ever have to do anything that makes you uncomfortable. New Orleans bridal vendors are well equipped to work with couples from a distance given the fact that New Orleans is a popular destination wedding location and they’ve been doing just that for years for out-of-town clients. Also, many are likely continuing with virtual appointments during phase 1 of the city and state rollouts. Simply express your concerns or just request a virtual appointment. You don’t have to even give a reason. Stay safe, stick to your boundaries and happy planning!
