Wediquette Wednesday: For a small wedding can we invite all of our wedding guests to the rehearsal dinner?

Each Wednesday, we tackle wedding etiquette. At times, it’s a reader question or one from a colleague, friend or family member and other times we’ll cover a popular issue. (Note: Questions may be edited for clarity and brevity.)

Question: We are having a small, intimate brunch-style wedding. Since the entire wedding guest list tops out at 19 people, we were thinking of inviting everyone to the rehearsal, but know that usually only the wedding party and immediate family are included in that particular gathering. For a small wedding can we invite all of our wedding guests to the rehearsal dinner?

Answer: If your budget allows for it, yes, it’s absolutely fine to invite everyone to the rehearsal. Some couples also include the officiant in the rehearsal if it’s someone you know well. The more the merrier! You may also want to consider making this a combination of a welcome party for out of town guests and the rehearsal, if that sounds like fun for you.
