Each Wednesday, we tackle wedding etiquette. At times, it’s a reader question or one from a colleague, friend or family member and other times we’ll cover a popular issue. (Note: Questions may be edited for clarity and brevity.)
Question: We are getting ready to have our invitations and R.S.V.P. cards printed up. How long do you give guests to return wedding R.S.V.P. Cards?
Answer: The ideal R.S.V.P. date is three weeks prior to the wedding. This allows enough time to work on the seating chart and to give the caterer a final head count. The head count is typically due to the caterer a week from the wedding.
