Each Wednesday, we tackle wedding etiquette. At times, it’s a reader question or one from a colleague, friend or family member and other times we’ll cover a popular issue. (Note: Questions may be edited for clarity and brevity.)
Question: My friend got married two weeks ago. I gave several gifts leading up to the wedding, but blanked out the day of the actual event and forgot to get one. What if I forgot to give my friend a wedding gift?
Answer: All is not lost. While it’s a misnomer that you have a year to give a wedding gift, you still have time. The custom is to send the gift within one month of the wedding or at the most, two months. Even if you can’t get the gift to the couple within two months, better late than never, but try hard to get it out to them sooner rather than later.
