Each Wednesday, we tackle wedding etiquette. At times, it’s a reader question or one from a colleague, friend or family member and other times we’ll cover a popular issue. (Note: Questions may be edited for clarity and brevity.)
Question: My husband and I are attending a large wedding next week. I’m assuming it will be challenging at best to speak with the couple, say hello, congratulate them, thank them for including us and say goodbye. We’re going to do our best, of course, but just in case … What if we aren’t able to speak to the couple during wedding festivities?
Answer: It can definitely be difficult to catch up when there are hundreds of guests trying to have a moment with the happy couple. You are smart to have a backup strategy. If you are unable to connect after the ceremony or during the reception, give them a quick follow up call or email the next day with your well wishes and to let them know you had a lovely time at the wedding.
