Each Wednesday, we tackle wedding etiquette. At times, it’s a reader question or one from a colleague, friend or family member and other times we’ll cover a popular issue. (Note: Questions may be edited for clarity and brevity.)
Question: I know you are supposed to feed your wedding vendors at the reception, so we are budgeting for it. My fiancé thinks we should budget for all of them, but I was thinking since the florist doesn’t stay, he doesn’t count. Which wedding vendors are you supposed to feed?
Answer: You are on the right track. Don’t budget for the baker, florist or the musicians who play only at your ceremony. Do plan to feed the photographer, band, DJ, wedding planner, videographer and their assistants. Your caterer will work with you on this and some, but not all, offer a discount or free meals for those individuals. Consider going the extra mile and arranging a designated break or quiet area for these vendors to eat and take breathers throughout the day.
