Jazzy Pod
Jazz Fest is here! If you haven’t’ had a chance to listen to our latest podcast, “Beyond the Music,” what are you waiting for? Each episode, we chat with those working both on stage and behind the scenes to make the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival an integral part of New Orleans culture each spring. Plus, now you can be a part of the pod. We are looking for your favorite Jazz Fest memories for our “love letter to Jazz Fest episode.” Click here and let us know your funny, heartfelt, bittersweet memories.
Cool Pops
Looking for a cool treat? Firefly Pops may be my new go-to. They offer delivery throughout New Orleans, or you catch them this this week at Wicked Wednesday, 8 to 12 p.m., at the Hi-Ho Lounge, along with 20 other vendors and artists. They will also be at The Flamingo Fest with refreshing treats to enjoy either before or after Jazz Fest each weekend. I’ve got my eye on some cool lemon-rosemary-mint popsicles, the hibiscus tea or the spicy strawberry.
Fanny Packs
Looking for some new festival gear? For us, it’s all about hands-free festing. These fanny packs caught our eye: Abita Beer has this jazzy new fanny pack, perfect for your beer money, sunglasses and more. Fleurty Girl has this NOLA street tile inspired “FEST” pack, big enough for your phone, some sunscreen and other essentials. Local designer Cool Your Fannies has some great blingy, collabs right now, for a fanny pack that packs a fun design punch.
Pizza Poems
April is National Poetry Month, and non-profit 826 New Orleans is celebrating with Pizza Poetry Day on April 28. 826 New Orleans works to encourage young writers’ voices throughout the city. On Pizza Poetry Day, pizza orders (with pickup or delivery) will come with a unique poem written by local poets ages 6 to 18. Pizzeria partners include Reginelli’s, Theo’s, G’s Pizza, Pizza Delicious and Midway Pizza. So grab a slice and get a poem, and support a great cause!
Sip and Social
Lafitte Greenway is hosting a “Sip and Social” this Wednesday, April 26, 5:30-7:00 pm at Ralph’s on the Park. It will be a great way to connect with other members of the community, learn what’s new along the Greenway and find out how you can volunteer or help out.
