Week of Aug. 19: The Laffite Greenway, Dat Dog and Center Stage Karaoke

The Laffite Greenway keeps getting better, celebrating the opening of its latest bridge connection, located at North Gayoso this Thursday, Aug. 22, at 9 a.m. Join in the fun! Plus, applications for this year’s Greenway Supernova visual art and music extravaganza have been extended to Sept. 15. The annual December festival celebrates art and community so be sure to get your information in to be considered.

Monday, Aug. 19, marks the Super Blue Moon, and so, of course, we are thinking about how our stars align. Dat Dog has put out a useful astro-dog-logical (sorry) guide to determining zodiac signs for a few of their favorite hot dogs. As a Leo, I need to know more! Plus, don’t forget to check out their COOLinary menu items featuring the etouffee special dog, Rougarou dog, tots, fries and daiquiris. Get ‘em while they’re hot…er, cool!

Channel your inner diva with Center Stage Karaoke at Zony Mash Beer Project this Wednesday, Aug. 21, 8 to 10 p.m. All ages are welcome to perform on the big screen with DJ Allee Cat.

Catch our latest episode of Beyond the Kitchen. We chat with chef/owner Marlon Chukumerije from the wildly popular Chicken’s Kitchen (and soon his second restaurant, The Coop) in Gretna. We find out what inspires him, his go-to guilty pleasure and what’s coming up. And be sure to follow Chicken’s Kitchen to stay on top of all the news.

It’s hot out there y’all! Stay hydrated with this zero-proof ranch water recipe courtesy of El Guapo Bitters. It’s super easy to make, is outrageously refreshing and is fit for anyone looking for flavorful hydration. Adding this one to my weeknight DIY happy hour.
