Week of August 21: Trivia, Cocktails and Popeye’s

Vintage Reads

National Thrift Store Day may have passed, but it’s never a bad time to hit up The Carriage House used bookstore, run by the Friends of the New Orleans Public Library. All sales benefit local literacy programs, plus you can find great bargains on late summer beach reads, cookbooks, kids’ books and much more.

Trivia Night

Love trivia? Love locally crafted beer? Check out trivia night at Skeeta Hawk Brewing, located in Mid-City just off the Lafitte Greenway, each Thursday night at 7 p.m. There are great brews, food, music and trivia, plus prizes!

Bakery Birthday

Gracious Bakery is celebrating 11 years in the bakery biz with a special birthday party this Saturday, Aug. 26, 4 to 7 p.m. at 4930 Prytania St. Uptown. There will be plenty of drinks, great eats and DJ Yelz spinning some tunes.

Cocktail Shake Up

Hot Plants Nursery has cooked up some small batch amaro for your summertime cocktail shake-ups, with flavors such as blue-raspberry, strawberry and cardamom. Mix things up at your next at-home happy hour or cocktail party!
