Mark your calendars for an evening of classic literature, costumes and more on Monday, Dec. 30, with “A Nite with Beowulf” at the Domino. Doors open at 6:30 with “readings, drinkings, merrymakings.” Costumes are encouraged, plus there will a festive potluck, free and open for all.
It’s crawfish season at Bayou Beer Garden! Enjoy hot, freshly boiled crawfish on Fridays at 3 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays at 1 p.m. It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
The Allstate Sugar Bowl New Year’s Parade hits the streets on Tuesday, Dec. 31, starting at 2 p.m. rolling through the French Quarter. Catch hometown dancing krewes, floats and bands.
Anna’s will celebrate New Year’s Eve with a festive “Martini Club,” starting at 8 p.m. until upstairs. The event will feature “$10 for a ‘tini martini glass, a refill stamp and a martini fixin bar.”
New Year’s Eve then wraps up with the annual city fireworks display along the New Orleans Riverfront, with Crescent Park opening from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. for viewing. New Orleans East residents can also enjoy a special fireworks display over Joe Brown Park at 9 p.m.
Celebrate New Year’s Day at Courtyard Brewery opening at 11 a.m. and with special grilled oysters available starting at 1 p.m. First come, first served!
Although it’s still illegal to enjoy king cakes, it’s not too early to plan ahead for Twelfth Night. Ayu Bakehouse is taking pre-orders for Jan. 6. Be prepared to ring in the Carnival season deliciously!
