It’s Lent, so that means Fish Fry Fridays, of course. We are obsessed with this fried catfish Bahn Mi at Blue Oak BBQ, featuring “corn flour crusted Des Allemandes catfish, pickled vegetables, blistered jalapeno, cilantro, Nuoc Cham” all on a Dong Phuong baguette. Available this Friday!
Enjoy some pleasant weather (we hope!) and take shop local at this month’s Arts Market NOLA, this Saturday, Feb. 24, at Marsalis Harmony Park, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Browse arts and crafts of all kinds, as well as food for purchase and kids’ activities.
The annual Cookoff for the Coast is also back this Saturday, Feb. 24, at Docville Farms in Violet. Gates open at 11 a.m. with local cookoff teams competing for prizes, live Cajun and Creole music and information about coastal restoration and how you can help. Proceeds from merchandise sales and donations go towards vital restoration projects to help restore and protect Louisiana’s coastline. It’s a great cause with great food and more.
While you’re there, stop by the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana’s table for information on free shuttles to and tours of the organization’s headquarter, home of its Oyster Shell Recycling Program as well as Native Plants Program nursery.
