Go Glitter
Beat the heat, stay cool and get craft. NOLA Craft Culture has plenty of provisions for any glitter or glam craft or Pride look you may be putting together, as well as an ongoing series of classes in their Mid-City store and craft workshop. Mark your calendars for the June 23 “Resin After Dark: Pride Edition” class.
Pretty purse
Accessorize your summer look with these ice cream and novelty inspired purses from artist French Quarter Girl. Each one is embellished with faux frosting, rhinestones, glitter, sprinkles and more, but won’t melt in the summer heat. Check out her entire line of custom order and handmade items for a unique look.
We scream, you scream
Speaking of ice cream, Rahm Haus Ice Cream (which recently closed its doors) is back for a two-day-only pop up at Rabbits Foot on June 16 and 17. There will be two flavor pints only. One is a promised fan favorite, and the other a Pride month-inspired special. Get them while they last because once they are sold out, they are done! Be sure to check Instagram for updates on all.
Market ready
This Saturday, June 17, check out the summer Art Market at Bayou Gardens (at Bayou Beer and Wine Gardens) noon to 5 p.m. It’s a great chance to snag yourself a special treat or shop for Father’s Day or for friends and father figures in your life. Featured local artists include Root Life Plant Nursery, NOLA Botanical Tea, Fire Fly Pops, Vintage Curations and many, many more. The event is 21 and up and will also feature pet adoption opportunities and live music.
Go Fish
The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas recently reopened after a major renovation, just in time for summer fun. The New Orleans Public Library posted a friendly reminder that its “Culture Pass” allows library card holders to have free admission to the aquarium, as well as other partners such as the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the National WWII Museum and others. So be sure to reserve your passes today and soak up some fun.
