Geaux Vote!
Election Day is tomorrow, November 8, so be sure to get out and vote! For information on your local polling place, sample ballots and more information, visit GeauxVote.com for the Louisiana Secretary of State’s website for elections and voting. And don’t forget to thank your poll workers!
Veteran’s Day Debut
Speaking of civic duty, Friday is Veteran’s Day, so celebrate and pay tribute with a virtual or in-person visit to the National WWII Museum for their annual Veteran’s Day Commemoration Ceremony (10 a.m. to 11 a.m.), hosted jointly with the Mayor’s Military Advisor Committee. That evening, the museum will also launch its new exhibit, “Expressions of America,” a unique nighttime, outdoor lights and sound experience. Buy tickets for this new experience, museum entrance, packages and more here.
Corporate Classic
This weekend I’ll be lacing up my running shoes for the fall Corporate Classic 5K, hosted by the Crescent City Classic and YMCA of Greater New Orleans. The event kicks off at 8 a.m., winds through City Park and ends with refreshments at the City Park practice track. This is the only official qualifying 5K race for runners looking to forward to running the Crescent City Classic 10K in 2023.
Thanksgiving Tradition
While you’ve got your running shoes ready to go, it’s also time to sign up for the annual Turkey Day Race, hosted by the New Orleans Athletic Club. This year marks the 5-mile race’s 115th year, a tradition that has become part of many families’ and friends’ yearly Thanksgiving routine. It’s a great way to kick off a day of relaxing, eating and (maybe) imbibing, plus it benefits non-profit Spina Bifida of Louisiana.
