Week of October 2: Breakfast, Festivals and Fall Cocktails

Fall Market

October is here and with it comes market season. The Freret Market returns this Saturday, October 7, 12 to 4 p.m. at the corner of Freret Street and Napoleon Avenue. Enjoy art, vintage and farmers market vendors, plus food and drink, pet adoptions, music and more.

Breakfast of Champions

There’s no good reason to skip breakfast with Molly’s Rise and Shine’s new breakfast burrito, jam packed with scrambled eggs, potato hash, black beans and special sauce. It’s only available on weekdays, though, so be sure to dash on by on your way to work, play or whatever! It brings new delicious meaning to “grab and go.”

Fall Cooking & Drinking

If you’re looking for a new spin on fall salads, check out one of our favorites, Mississippi Vegan. This farro and veggie salad can be mixed up in advanced and stored in a canning jar, perfect for picnics, taking to work for lunch or school, or just a great weeknight light dinner. Check it out here, along with many other cozy comfort food ideas.

Now that is “officially” fall I am obsessed with this Apple Pie Moscow Mule that was recently posted online. What’s your favorite fall cocktail obsession?

Festing in Place

Mix up your favorite cocktail or beverage and sit back and relax with some New Orleans music, as WWOZ launches their “Fall Festing in Place” concert series on air this Thursday, October 5 through Sunday, October 8, in conjunction with the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation’s archive collection. Check out the line-up of acts and shows with these online music cubes, with more surprises yet to be announced. Featured acts will include classic performances such as “Dr. John at Tipitina’s in 1999, Professor Longhair at Tipitina’s in 1979, Radiators at the Dream Palace in 1998, Irma Thomas from French Quarter Fest 2023, the Neville Brothers at Jazz Fest 2011, Allen Toussaint and Dr. John’s Tribute to James Booker at Jazz Fest 1997, Danny Barker at the Memphis Blues Fest in 1970, and many more.”
