Week of October 24: Ghost Manor, Haunted Hearse and Dia de los Muertos

El Guapo Bitters may have come up with the cocktail of the week with their “Freaky Tiki” with @the_sauceress just in time for Halloween costume parties. It pairs rum with El Guapo Cuban Bitters, lychee juice and more, plus some spooky peepers as garnish.

Take an immersive “cell phone ride” on the “Haunted Hearse.” Check out this spooky creative art car by New Orleans artist Jane Tardo for a truly unique interactive experience, with appearances at the HiHo Lounge’s Wicked Wednesday Art Market on Oct. 26, Hidden South Hidden Talent Show on Thursday, Oct. 27, the Sybil Gallery Opening on Saturday, Oct. 29, Siberia on Sunday, Oct. 30, and a spooky location tbd on Halloween day. Ghost Manor

Pour your favorite “go-cup” and walk over to catch the last weekend for the amazing and scary ghost shenanigans at Ghost Manor (Magazine Street at Second Street.) From 6:30 to 10 p.m., all manner of ghouls and goblins take over this haunted house for a dazzling light and sound sidewalk viewing display.

Dia de los Muertos

Celebrate the Day of the Dead and learn more about its cultural significance Monday, October 30, 4:30 p.m. at Blue Cypress Books. The event will feature members of the Krewe de Mayahuel who will lead a discussion and talk about their annual Dia de Los Muertos procession in St. Roch. Children’s book author Ana Aranda will also read from her book “Our Day of the Dead Celebration,” with an interactive, family friendly Q&A session. Tickets are $30, which includes admission for one and adult, a signed copy of “Our Day of the Dead Celebration,” plus a $10 donation to the Krewe. Also available are $5 tickets, which include admission for one plus a $2.50 donation.
