What Makes a Legend

The Junior League of New Orleans celebrated its hard work and determination at its fund-raiser, “Legends and Lagniappe,” held Jan. 26 at the JW Marriott.  It’s been a busy year for the JLNO, which focuses its resources on children’s education, with programs such as the Green Charter School and the Plate Project. The evening began with a patron party at which Ralph’s on the Park cuisine was served and a special “Legend Martini” was created by Glazer’s. Those who still had room for dessert sampled a variety of cakes from the Swiss Confectionery. Estée Lauder dedicated gift baskets.

The gala commenced at 8 p.m., at which even more food was served: Austin’s, Bacco, Bayona, GW Fins, JCB Creations, the Pelican Club, Red Fish Grill and Southern Candymakers all contributed savory morsels. The musical group Jubilation got guests dancing and Junior League sustainers performed “Flashback to the Follies,” a
tradition that began nearly 50 years ago. The party was a fun way to include Junior Leaguers of all ages and to recognize the contributions that every generation has made.
