SIGNATURE THROWS

One of the best parts about Carnival parades is doing your best to catch one of the krewe’s signature throws. Everyone knows Muses has a shoe, for example, but many of the Carnival krewes throw their own signature item that you’ll definitely want to get your hands on this year.

Krewe of Babylon: LED Jester on a stick
Krewe of Muses: hand decorated high-heeled shoes
Krewe of Bosom Buddies: hand-decorated bras
Krewe d’Etat: blinking logo skull bead
Krewe of Selene: handmade, decorated purses
Krewe of Iris: hand-decorated sunglasses
Krewe of Tucks: hand-decorated toilet brushes
Krewe of NOMTOC: signature Jug Man dolls
Krewe of Isis: hand-decorated bras
Krewe of Athena: custom decorated Fedoras
Krewe of Centurions: hand-decorated swords
Krewe of Zulu: hand-decorated coconuts

WHAT TO LISTEN TO

The team at Renaissance Publishing has a Spotify playlist that we all contributed a few songs that are perfect for the parade route.

WHERE TO EAT+DRINK

Food and drink are essential while parading, but if you haven’t prepared ahead of time there are some classic spots along the route offering up a little nosh and libations for Carnival revelers.

Note: this is, by no means, a complete list, just a few along the different routes. There are many restaurants and bars on the route or even right off of the main streets that offer specials and parade packages. MyNewOrleans.com is constantly posting parade happenings and menus, so stick to our Food+Drink tab!

Superior Grill

Or Superior Seafood – both are great for vibes, drinks and food for your parade viewing!

The Chloe

Both The Chloe and The Columns are quintessential stops along the St. Charles parade route!

Avenue Pub

A spicy chicken sandwich and some smoked cracklins sounds about right for Mardi Gras!

Columns

Both The Chloe and The Columns are quintessential stops along the St. Charles parade route!

GrisGris

On that same note, Gris-Gris is a perfect spot to order ahead and pick up some food before heading to the parade route!

Francolini's Deli

This is another to add to your list for pre-parade food! Who doesn’t love a good sandwich and beer on St. Charles Avenue?
