The recently renovated Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré opens its “lagniappe production” of Nora and Delia Ephron’s Love, Loss and What I Wore tonight. Le Petit’s production of the play, in which women deliver a series of humorous and sometimes emotional monologues, features different casts for the two weekends of performances. This weekend’s performances feature Mary Louise Wilson, the Broadway actress who won a Tony for her performance in 2006’s Grey Gardens. Other performers in the two weekends include local stage fixtures like Leslie Castay and Janet Shea and longtime society columnist Nell Nolan. People can also drop off donations of gently worn suits and women’s professional attire for the local chapter of Dress for Success before each show; donators will be entered into a raffle. Info here.

There’s a free screening of A Family Portrait in Black and White, a documentary following a single mother raising a rambunctious brood of 17 mostly biracial foster children, at the Ashé Cultural Arts Center. A Skype Q&A with director Julia Ivanova follows the screening. Info here.

The New Orleans musician Davell Crawford, who in May released My Gift To You, makes a special appearance at Preservation Hall. Info here.
Gasa Gasa, the music venue that’s the latest addition to the constantly growing Freret Street, hosts a free grand opening event featuring music by soul-rock group The Honorable South. Food trucks will be parked nearby during the event. Info here.
While it doesn’t seem to be officially affiliated with the Channing Tatum film of the same name judging from its vague Facebook page and website, the “Magic Mike Tour” stops at One Eyed Jacks for the “ultimate ladies night out.” Whatever that means. Info here.
Sunday, July 21
Soprano Elizabeth Futral hosts “A Night of Music” to benefit Amici, the support group of the Gulf Coast Region of the Metropolitan Opera National Council. The singer will present a concert of arias at Loyola University’s Roussel Hall that will be followed by a patron dinner at a private residence. Info here.
There are a lot of local filmmakers creating comedic web series, and you can check out some of them at a showcase at One Eyed Jacks. The showcase screens Below Sea Level, Sunken City, Least Favorite Love Songs, WINO Wet in New Orleans and Bourbon Whiz. Info here.
