What’s Cookin’ Good Lookin’?

Children’s charity Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), treated patrons and guests to amazing cuisine while supporting a worthy cause with their annual fundraiser What’s Cookin’ with CASA? Held at the Riverview Room at Jackson Brewery on the evening of November 13, 2008, CASA and Title Sponsor Blue Cross/Blue Shield kicked things off with an exclusive patron party at 6:30 p.m., which was followed by the title event an hour later. Nationally renowned Chef Donald Link of Cochon and Herbsaint fame conducted cooking demonstrations for partygoers, while fabulous restaurants including Bayona, MiLa and Red Fish Grill satisfied guests with their fabulous fare. Glazer’s of Louisiana kept everyone’s drinks full with a martini bar, while the Preservation Hall Jazz Band performed throughout the night. The main attraction of the night, however, was a luxurious silent auction, featuring great goods like airline tickets, golf packages, upscale dining at exclusive restaurants and sports memorabilia. All proceeds benefited CASA’s continued commitment to the all-too-often overlooked youths placed within the foster care system. In attendance, among many other CASA members, were Executive Director Dellona Davis and Special Events Chairperson Deborah Quarles. Since 1987, CASA and its specially trained volunteers have provided a voice for neglected and abused children within the foster care system, and also advocate for permanent homes to provide stability for youths.
