It has been said for eons that beauty is only skin-deep and, not being one to trifle with age-old wisdom, I’m inclined to agree; regardless, there’s more to achieving “skin-deep” beauty than the old adage indicates. To be honest, sometimes a girl needs a little help.
That’s why it helps to know about these products and services that can aid you in your quest for a soft spring look that will let your inner beauty shine through.
Available at Bamboo Apothecary, Era Face spray-on foundation from Classified Cosmetics is a revolutionary aerosol foundation rich with anti-oxidants, botanicals such as Aloe Vera and chamomile, and vitamins E and C; the product has even been featured on TLC’s What Not to Wear.
“It’s really easy to apply and it gives you nice, natural coverage,” Teresa Bordes, manager of Bamboo Apothecary, says. The cosmetic, available in 10 sheer shades, is designed to match any skin tone. The product comes in two color bases, yellow-beige, to even out the skin for olive-toned women, and red-beige, which contains pigments made to correct red tones. Rejuvenate your skin
The best accessory on any woman (or man, for that matter!) is radiant, healthy skin; but how do you prepare your skin for the change in seasons?
Emme Marten of Aqua Med Spa (3262 Severn Ave., 883-5558) says there are three key steps: Micro Dermabrasion, a chemical peel and a good, light moisturizer with SPF that protects against UVA (aging) and UVB (burning) rays.
Marten says that after a long winter, it’s necessary to slough off rough, dead skin with a deep exfoliating treatment; she actually recommends both types of exfoliation, mechanical (Micro Dermabrasion) and chemical.
Dr. Patti Farris (701 Metairie Road, 836-2050) offers skin renewal services as well, including dermal fillers, Botox injections and laser hair removal. Dr. Farris believes treatments such as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and fractional laser resurfacing, which are amongst the treatments she performs, can really help achieve healthy skin.
“These are good for treating sun-damaged skin and skin wrinkling,” she says of the treatments.
