Being a boy mom often means making sacrifices – privacy, clean bathrooms and even shared interests. I’ve learned to appreciate muddy monster truck rallies and ear-splitting Saints games, but it’s rare to find an activity we all genuinely enjoy doing together. Taylor Swift concerts and “The Nutcracker” ballet were nonstarters with my boys, but the movie, “Wicked” was a surprising exception. It became this magical bridge between our worlds. They loved the flying monkeys, complex scenery and ties to “The Wizard of Oz,” while I reveled in the stunning costumes, music and themes of female friendship. Moments like these are rare and truly heartwarming, and just in time for the holidays.
If you haven’t seen “Wicked” yet, don’t wait! You might even find yourself inspired to create a holiday party outfit based on one of the lead characters. The only question is: Are you an Elphaba or a Glinda?
