Will You Be Mine?

Mardi Gras and Valentine’s Day look different this year as COVID-19 cases, and new strains of the virus, emerge throughout Louisiana and the country. City officials have banned events and ordered bars to close in the coming days before the big Fat Tuesday weekend, while many bars and restaurants have had to close indefinitely. But amid the uncertainty, a few local staples are trying to ensure that local couples are keeping the love alive.

First, The Higgins Hotel New Orleans, the hotel of the National WWII Museum, offers couples the “A Royal Valentine’s Day Sweeten Your Stay” package. Any couple that stays at the hotel between Thursday, Feb. 11, and Sunday, Feb. 14, can take full advantage of this offering. The package includes deluxe accommodations in a King Room, $50 credit for food and beverages at one of the hotel’s restaurants, champagne delivered to the room once you arrive, and a bed of rose petals spread in the room accompanying a Mardi Gras king cake and chocolate strawberries.

The hotel is also still offering it’s Krewe of House Floats Mardi Gras Parade tours, which if paired with the Valentine’s special can really round out Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras weekend celebration. For more information, visit the hotel’s website here.

In addition, the Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group’s Ralph’s on the Park and Red Fish Grill feature meal options for two. Ralph’s Curbside Meal for Two includes two half bottles of wine, signature starters of their City Park salad and turtle soup, entrées that include beef tenderloin and gulf seafood, and an end of chocolate Doberge cake. More information, orders and floral arrangement add ons can be made here.

Red Fish Grill offers couples a three-course dinner with lobster bisque, blackened redfish and red velvet cake. Reservations and more information about Mardi Gras offerings, can be made here.

But the kicker, we feel, of the restaurant group’s offerings is the Brennan’s Restaurant’s Breakfast in Bed for Two. You can place orders online and pick up your orders on Feb. 13, giving you plenty of time to set everything up for Valentine’s Day. This breakfast in bed includes Brandy Milk Punch cocktails, Louisiana strawberries, eggs Hussarde, a Brennan’s king cake and a half bottle of Brut champagne.

We’re not sure about y’all, but that sounds like the ultimate breakfast in bed. Maybe even the perfect set up for a Valentine’s Day engagement *insert big eyes emoji*. Anyone interested, can place their orders online here.

Just because Mardi Gras is cancelled and many of our favorites are closed, doesn’t mean that love is cancelled. Happy Valentine’s Day!
