NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Wine Spectator’s eagerly anticipated August issue will list more than 3,800 restaurants around the world that have achieved recognition as part of the magazine’s annual “Restaurant Awards.” For 2019, the magazine has selected over 30 New Orleans restaurants to honor with the Award of Excellence. Among those recognized for possessing one of the world’s best wine lists are Copper Vine; Compère Lapin; Jack Rose; and Bywater American Bistro.
All of the restaurants listed above won the Award of Excellence which recognizes restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style.
Wine Spectator began its program to recognize the world’s best wine lists in 1981. There are three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award — with 2,447, 1,244 and 100 winners this year in each respective category. Eight of the Grand Award winners are first timers.
The complete list of award winners is available in Wine Spectator’s August print issue, on newsstands July 16 and online at Restaurants.WineSpectator.com, where visitors can search and access exclusive content on the 3,800 restaurants. The full list is also available for free on iOS via the Restaurant Awards app, which allows users to look for dining spots in any location with maps, choosing by wine strengths, cuisine type, pricing and more.
