Winter Bridesmaid Trends

Fashion trends are always changing. When it comes to a wedding, the bride isn’t the only one looking to stay on trend for the Big Day. Bridesmaid gowns are the second most important fashion statement behind the bride, which is why it is key to make sure you know everything that’s happening in bridesmaid fashion.

We gathered all the details on the latest trends in bridesmaid fashion from Dina Ippolito with Linda Lee Bridal and Melissa Estess with The Bridal Boutique by MaeMe. With their tips and expertise, your maids are sure to shine.

SHAPE AND STYLE

When it comes to the shape and look of a bridesmaid dress, mix-and-match has staying power.

Ippolito tells us brides and their maids are looking for more personal looks, with their bridal party in differently styled dresses or a variety of dresses in the same color by the same designer. Estess points out that most designers are also encouraging this mix-and-match style. She also noted seeing more dresses with an elegant back detail or strap embellishment added to the mix.

FABRIC

Beaded numbers and sequins that make a bright statement are also not going anywhere. In addition, Ippolito says, more brides are choosing soft chiffon with lace, tulle or a subtle beaded accent.

COLOR

Usually winter brings a darker tone, however, Estess and Ippolito both note that nudes and muted shades of champagne are continuing to gain traction among winter bridal parties. Shades of most colors have at one time or another made their winter debut, but Estess adds that jewel tones are making a strong comeback specifically in shades of cranberry, wine, merlot, eggplant, aubergine and navy.

FAVORITE WINTER TRENDS

Estess says she and her team are most excited for the full winter ensemble of a dark, jewel-toned dress, deep red lip, fur stole and a wild green bouquet.
